Good Energies, an investor in renewable energy, has sold Romanian Fantanele and Cogealac wind farms to Czech CEZ for €1.1bn as a result of forthcoming regulatory changes in Romania. The two projects will together be the largest onshore wind farm in Europe, with a total capacity of 600MW, according to a statement.
The projects were originally developed by Continental Wind Partners, a major renewable power developer, for Good Energies.
CWP will manage the construction of the wind farms, which will be built by major international construction firms.
Andrew Lee, managing director of Good Energies, said, 'We are delighted to see this landmark project going forward with CEZ. It is very important to both Romania and the Central European region and its success confirms CWP as one of, if not the, leading wind developer in Europe today. We are delighted to have supported it and look forward to working with CWP on its significant project portfolio in Poland, Romania and further afield.'
Good Energies invests in solar, turbine powered renewables, energy efficiency and green building technologies and also in emerging cleantech sectors.
