The Carlyle Group and Riverstone Holdings, through their Carlyle/Riverstone Global Energy and Power Fund III, have sold their stake in International Logging, Inc. to oilfield services company Weatherford International. The firms acquired ILI, alongside Boston-based private equity firm Cherington Capital (now Intervale Capital) and company management, in March 2006. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ILI provides oil and gas well-site geological logging services with offices in Asia, South America and Africa. Following the initial deal, the company made four acquisitions between 2006 and 2007.
Greg Beard, a managing director at Riverstone, said, 'ILI, a leader in its specialised field, is an outstanding company that proved to be an excellent investment. We wish Weatherford and the entire ILI management team continued success.'
The Riverstone/Carlyle Global Energy and Power Funds are a group of energy-focused private equity funds managed by Riverstone.
