2i's Indian Enterprise Fund holds $60m first closing

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityIndian mid-market private equity firm 2i Capital Group has held a first closing on its second fund, the Indian Enterprise Fund, on $60m. The fund has a target of $200m, which the firm expects to reach by the end of the year.

Investors in Indian Enterprise Fund are overseas investors, including two family offices, one corporate and a fund of funds, the firm said.

With its new fund, 2i will continue to invest in mid-market companies operating in the consumer or industrial markets.

2i Capital's first fund closed in 2003 on $200m. It is fully invested now, in 17 companies, with 35 per cent of its capital in the manufacturing and engineering sector, 27 per cent in the energy and infrastructure sector, 14 per cent in telecom and technology, 13 per cent in consumer and capital goods and the rest in leisure and travel and logistics and supply.
