Belgium-based private equity and venture capital firm GIMV has appointed Hansjörg Sage as a partner. He will head the firm’s information and communication technology investment activities in the German-speaking region. Prior to joining GIMV, Sage was a director in 3i’s global venture capital team, focused on early and late stage investments in European technology start-ups, primarily operating in the electronics, semiconductor and cleantech sectors. Before that, he worked at Lehman Brothers.
Alex Brabers, a member of GIMV’s executive committee, said, ‘The German market is not as mature as the French or UK market. But a lot of new initiatives are being developed at this moment. This makes it an interesting time for GIMV to enter the German market. Moreover, this supports our strategy to provide to the best European start-ups an international investment offering with local investment professionals in Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Germany.’
GIMV has also hired two investment managers, Raffi Kamber and Johan Reynaert, working out of the firm’s Paris and Antwerp offices, respectively. In their new roles, they will focus on the electronics and telecommunication sectors.
GIMV currently manages around €2bn of assets. Earlier this month, the firm appointed Koenraad Dejonckheere as CEO.
