New York-headquartered private equity firm Avista Capital Partners has hired John R Huff as an industry advisor. Huff is the former chairman of the board, president and CEO of Oceanneering International, an oilfield provider of engineered services and products used in the offshore oil and gas industry.
Prior to that, he was a managing partner at investment banking group Falcon Partners. He also spent a number of years with Western Oceanic, an offshore drilling contractor.
Steven Webster, co-managing partner and president of Avista, said, ' With John's experience, insight into leading edge technology issues, and strong connections with a number of companies in the energy space, I have no doubt John will make significant contributions to Avista's energy investment practice.'
Avista was founded in 2005 and focuses on sectors including media, healthcare and energy. Avista closed its first fund in June 2007 on $2bn.
In May of this year, Avista and Nordic Capital agreed to acquire biopharmaceutical business unit ConvaTec from Bristol-Myers Squibb Company for approximately $4.1bn.
