Ratos to sell Hägglunds Drives for €455m18/07/2008. Source: AltAssets. 
Listed Swedish private equity firm Ratos has agreed to sell hydraulic motor and drive systems supplier Hägglunds Drives to Bosch Rexroth for approximately SEK4.3bn (€455m). The sale will generate an exit gain for Ratos of approximately SEK4.4bn (€466m) and an IRR of 56 per cent, according to the firm. Hägglunds Drives has subsidiaries in 16 countries, employing 900 workers. In 2007, the company recorded sales of SEK1.761bn (€186m).
Ratos became a part owner of Hägglunds Drives in 2001, in conjunction with the buy-out of Atle. Ratos has been the sole owner of the company since 2004, refinancing it in November 2006.
Ratos CEO Arne Karlsson said, 'Focused efforts in recent years to accelerate growth through investment in the sales and marketing organisation, new markets and segments, and expanded aftermarket services as well as extensive product development have laid the foundation for Hägglunds Drives' positive development.'
In May of this year, Hägglunds Drives agreed to acquire American company Rineer Hydraulics for $23m.
Ratos' holdings include AH Industries, Anticimex, Arcus Gruppen, Bisnode, Camfil, Contex, DIAB, EuroMaint, GS-Hydro, Haglöfs, HL Display, HÅG/RH/RBM, Hägglunds Drives, Inwido, Jøtul, Lindab, MCC, Medisize and Superfos.
