New York-based private equity firm Sentinel Capital Partners has closed its fourth fund, Sentinel Capital Partners IV, on $765m, above its initial target of $600m. The fund closed within six months of its launch, according to the firm. Investors in the fund included college and university endowments, corporate pension plans, financial institutions, foundations, insurance companies, investment advisors, state and government retirement funds.
'We are extremely pleased to have surpassed our expectations for Fund IV by such a wide margin and with the market's strong reception,' said David Lobel, Sentinel founder and managing partner. 'We received very strong support from our existing limited partners and from a highly regarded group of new global investors.'
The fund will invest in the lower end of the mid market, targeting businesses with $5m to $25m of EBITDA in sectors including consumer products, food industry and franchising.
Sentinel's previous fund, Sentinel Capital Partners III, closed in April 2005 on $319m.
