Quantum Energy Partners, alongside industry veterans Dr Larry Bickle and Larry Lawyer, has formed Triton Energy Partners, an investment company focused on US gas storage facilities. Triton will initially focus on identifying strategic supply and market locations where it can develop greenfield storage facilities, the firm said. The company will also evaluate the acquisition of current greenfield storage development projects and operating storage facilities.
Wil VanLoh, president and CEO of Quantum, said, 'We are excited about the formation of Triton Energy Partners. With the increased demand for natural gas in the US and the shifting geographies of North American natural gas supply basins and demand loads, well-placed storage will be vital to support the operational efficiency of our natural gas pipeline grid.'
Triton will be led by Lawyer and Bickle, whose experience includes the development of natural gas storage projects including Bobcat, Lodi, Moss Bluff and Egan Gas Storage.
Bickle previously founded and managed companies in the midstream sector, including Haddington Ventures, Market Hub Partners and Tejas Power Corporation.
Quantum closed its fourth fund, Quantum Energy Partners IV, in early 2007, on $1.32bn.
