Carlyle hires James Burr as managing director, Global Financial Services Group

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityThe Carlyle Group has appointed James F Burr, the corporate treasurer at Wachovia Bank, as a managing director in its Global Financial Services Group. Burr will be based in New York City.

Burr joined Wachovia in 1992. He began his career at Ernst & Young, where he was a CPA focused on banking and computer audit issues.

Olivier Sarkozy, Carlyle managing director and co-head of the Global Financial Services Group, and also the half-brother of French president Nicolas Sarkozy, said, 'Jim is a great addition to our deep and talented team. His intimate knowledge of the financial services space from an operational and financial perspective will prove invaluable as Carlyle seeks out the best opportunities to deploy capital in the struggling financial services sector.'

Carlyle's Global Financial Services Group, formed in June 2007, is co-headed by Sarkozy and David Zwiener.
