New York-based life sciences investment firm Merlin Nexus has announced that its Merlin Nexus III fund has completed a first closing. The fund has raised $40m. It has a $125m target. Among the investors are Permal Capital Management and Capital E Group.
The firm will continue the successful crossover strategy of its two predecessors, Merlin Nexus I (2001 vintage) and Merlin Nexus II (2005 vintage), and will invest in late stage private and public companies.
Areas of interest are biotechnology, medical devices, specialty pharmaceutical and molecular diagnostics.
Merlin Nexus was founded in 2001 by Dominique Sémon.
