IQ Capital launches as independent UK venture capital firm26/11/2007. Source: AltAssets. 
Cambridge-based venture capital investors and fund managers Nigel Brown, Ed Stacey, Max Bautin and Kerry Baldwin have launched IQ Capital Partners, a new venture capital firm focused on early stage technology businesses based in the UK. The team spun out of NW Brown Group. IQCP, which manages the recently established IQ Capital Fund I in addition to two seed funds, GEIF (Great Eastern Investment Forum) and COIN (East of England co-investment) funds, has £35m under management. IQ Capital Fund I accounts for £25m of that capital.
The IQCP team will provide funding from £100,000 upwards per investment. It has the capacity to make available up to £3m per business.
Nigel Brown, chairman of IQCP, said, 'Helping early stage companies has been the main focus of my work for more than a decade and I am delighted to be continuing this with the IQ CAPITAL team. We have been working together for several years and have many venture capital successes behind us.'
IQCP's portfolio includes Shortfuze, Spikes Cavell, OnRelay and 25 seed investments.
