GMT to acquire cable television and broadband services provider in Malta

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityGMT Communications Partners, a European private equity group focused exclusively on the communications sector, has agreed to acquire Melita Cable, a provider of television, broadband and telephony services in Malta, from Nasdaq-listed Liberty Global and the Gasan Group of Companies.

Sources close to the deal told AltAssets that the deal was worth in the region of €170m.

GMT will acquire a majority shareholding and the Gasan Group will retain a minority interest in the business. GMT is backing the existing management team led by Philip Micallef.

Since 1992 GMT has invested in 25 companies and completed over 100 transactions, exclusively in European media/communications.
