Rakesh Kaul joins Carlyle as senior advisor to consumer and retail team

Click here for the latest news, views and interviews in the clean energy investor communityThe Carlyle Group has appointed Rakesh K Kaul as a senior advisor to the Group's consumer and retail investment team, which is headed by managing director Sandra J Horbach.

Kaul will also join the board of directors of Oriental Trading Company, a Carlyle portfolio company that is a direct marketer of party supplies, novelties, toys and children's arts and crafts, school supplies and home décor and giftware.

Kaul is currently and will continue to be chairman of Spherenomics, an Indo-US marketing and outsourcing solutions provider for consumer brands.

Horbach said, 'Rakesh brings 30 years of operational, entrepreneurial and turnaround experience to Carlyle. His consumer and multi-channel marketing experience and innovative global business development skills will foster our ability to create value for our portfolio companies.'

The consumer and retail team has led deals including the investments in Dunkin' Brands and Oriental Trading Company.
