 New York-based private equity firm Wellspring Capital Management has appointed John E Morningstar as principal and William E Ramsey as executive director. Morningstar will be responsible for senior-level activities surrounding the acquisition, monitoring and sales of portfolio companies, while Ramsey's primary responsibility will be interfacing with portfolio company management teams to foster continuous improvement in operating performance.
Morningstar joins Wellspring from Castle Harlan, where he worked on a number of leveraged buy-outs of consumer-related, packaging and industrial companies and sat on the boards of several portfolio companies. Prior to Castle Harlan, he worked in the investment banking department of Merrill Lynch & Co.
Ramsey until recently worked at Honeywell and its predecessor, Allied Signal, where he was a senior officer in operations and lean/six sigma activities. Prior to that, he worked in operations, procurement and quality roles at Bausch & Lomb and Xerox.
Wellspring manages approximately $2bn in equity capital.
