San Francisco-based private equity firm Golden Gate Capital has hired Jai Hakhu as senior advisor. Hakhu was most recently corporate vice president and general manager at Intel Corporation. Previously, he was a vice president at Rockwell International and at Varian Semiconductors. Jai is also president and CEO of RC International.
In his new position, Hakhu will work closely with Golden Gate Capital's existing semiconductor portfolio companies. He will also give advice on potential future investments in semiconductors and other related sectors.
Prior to hiring Hakhu, Golden Gate Capital purchased two semiconductor related companies: Vistec Semiconductor Systems, formerly Leica Microsystem's Semiconductor Equipment Division; and Teridian, formerly TDK America. Hakhu will join the boards of both Vistec and Teridian.
Last year, Golden Gate Capital along with Sun Capital acquired the troubled specialty retailer Eddie Bauer for $9.25 per share in cash. The total transaction value was approximately $614m, including $328m of assumed debt.
Golden Gate Capital has approximately $3.3bn of capital under management.
