 Venture capital investment into Chinese companies reached $2.18bn in 2006, according to ChinaVenture's 2006 Venture Capital Report for the Chinese Market. The amount was up from $1.43bn in 2005.
The number of deals increased to 362 last year from 298 in 2005.
The TMT sector absorbed 63.3 per cent of the $2.18bn and accounted for 237 deals.
About 85.2 per cent of the invested capital came from foreign investors and 6.8 per cent was from local investors.
The report also found that a total of 41 venture capital funds for the Chinese market raised 4.44bn in 2006.
