BC Partners, Electra Partners, PAI and the newly formed FMCG Investments are among a number of private equity firms and trade buyers potentially interested in buying Heinz's European frozen food and seafood businesses, according to the Financial Times. The newspaper said that bids, which could be submitted as early as the beginning of November, would value the businesses at around £400m.
Heinz announced last month that it considered selling its seafood, vegetable and frozen food businesses in Europe (including the Petit Navire(R), John West(R) and HAK(R) brands) and the Tegel(R) poultry business in New Zealand as part of its new 'growth and innovation strategy'.
Heinz plans to focus on the food categories of ketchup, condiments and sauces, meals and snacks, and infant nutrition.
