Pan-European buy-out firm BC Partners is to partially exit its investment in C&C, the Irish drinks company, by selling Italian spirits company Barbero to Campari. The deal has been valued at around E150m.
The sale will help to reduce C&C’s debt, which caused BC Partners to abandon its flotation plans for C&C in 2002. BC Partners has indicated that it may resurrect plans for an initial public offering for the remainder of the company in 2004.
BC Partners acquired C&C from Allied Domecq in a 1998 management buy-out.
