Sal Oppenheim and CAM Private Equity Consulting are to merge their private equity fund investment activities. CAM will take over management of Oppenheim Private Equity Manager and, in turn, Sal Oppenheim will acquire a 15 per cent shareholding in CAM.
‘Through this transaction we gain access to the know-how and experience of the leading German firm in designing and managing private equity fund portfolios,’ said Detlef Bierbaum, general partner of Sal Oppenheim.
This transaction, according to a statement, is part of Sal Oppenheim’s ongoing strategy to enhance its market position by merging individual business activities with experienced external partners. The firm has also merged the management of its mutual funds and lending business.
Oppenheim Private Equity Manager is the fund of funds arm of German private bank Sal Oppenheim. It invests in Europe and the US in buy-out and in venture capital funds as well as some secondaries positions.
CAM Private Equity is a fund of funds and asset management company that predominately services German and Austrian insurance companies, banks and family offices. The firm currently manages in the region of E400m.
