Henderson Private Capital has appointed Andrew Marsden as head of infrastructure in Europe. He will focus on transport and energy sector investment opportunities, as well as Private Finance Initiative investments.
Paul Woodbury, the firm's global head of infrastructure, said: ‘We are delighted that someone of Andrew's stature has joined our growing team. His considerable knowledge and expertise will help us to further strengthen and build our capabilities and target areas of expansion.'
Marsden was most recently employed as head of Enron Principal Investments (EPI), where he was responsible for all private equity investments in Europe and was a member of EPI's Global Investment Committee. Previously, he had spent eight years at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson's Corporate Finance Division.
Infrastructure investments are attracting increasing attention from European private equity firms looking for opportunities arising from privatisation and restructuring across the region. CVC Capital, for example, recently purchased Spanish utilities company Iberdrola's high- tension electricity network for close to E600m.
Henderson Global Investors is the investment management subsidiary of AMP, the financial services group.
