Scottish Equity Partners has announced two appointments to its investment team to expand its capacity in both the technology and life sciences sectors.
Andrew Davison joins from 3i's technology group and Julie Curran joins from biosciences consultancy Decision Resources.
Calum Paterson, SEP managing director, said: ‘We believe that now is a good time to build up our team and we are delighted that Andrew Davison has joined us. Global market conditions remain very volatile but the venture capital sector is holding up well and by expanding our team we hope to capitalise on future investment opportunities.'
Davison spent six years with 3i. Among the deals he worked on were Roslin Biomed, Kamelian, Quadstone, Aspects Software, and Intense Photonics. Curran has a strong academic background, with a PhD in cardiovascular genetics from Glasgow University and a BSc in molecular biology from Queen's University in Belfast.
SEP said it planned to expand the team further over the next few months to reinforce its position as one of the leading technology venture firms in Scotland. It is based in Glasgow, with offices in London and Edinburgh, and is currently investing from a fund of more than £100m.
