 The Californian State Teachers' Retirement System (Calstrs) has appointed Altius Associates, the UK-based private equity and advisory firm, as its international alternative investment advisor.
Altius will recommend non-US partnerships, perform due diligence and assist and advise Calstrs staff on investment opportunities in Canada, the UK and Continental Europe.
‘Altius provides the international expertise and customised service we need to continue the excellence of our alternative investment portfolio,' said Real Desrochers, Calstrs' director of alternative investments.
The firm replaces Pathway Capital Management, who advised the fund until recently when its contract expired.
Calstrs has recently upped its commitment to alternative investments from five per cent to eight per cent.
