2013 is on track to become the strongest year ever in terms of capital returned to LPs. Overall the balance between capital calls and distributions point to a "prolonged sellers’ market", fuelled by the liquidity in the financial system. Private equity firms are finding it easier to refinance, recapitalise and exit their funds’ portfolio companies than to deploy freshly raised funds in a disciplined way.
