Hermes establishes fund of hedge fund practice, hires Matteo Dante Perruccio as CEO30/09/2008. Source: AltAssets.
Pension fund investment manager Hermes has appointed Matteo Dante Perruccio as CEO of Hermes’ newly established fund of hedge funds operations. Perruccio was previously co-CEO of Paris-based fund of hedge funds Olympia Capital Management, and before that held senior executive positions at Pioneer Investments.
Other hires to the newly formed team include Mark Barker and Greg Knott as co-CIOs. They were both previously at Pioneer Alternative Investments. A further seven individuals have also agreed to join the team, with more hires anticipated, according to Hermes.
This group will form the foundation of a boutique partnership, with Hermes owning the majority share and its partners and employees having a stake in the performance, profitability and enterprise value of the business.
The BT Pension Scheme requirements will initially be the main focus of the new team. BTPS currently has some £1.9bn allocated to hedge funds, representing around 5 per cent of the scheme’s total assets.
Hermes invests on behalf of 206 clients including pension funds, insurance companies, government entities, financial institutions, charities and endowments.
The firm manages investments including alternative strategies such as commodities, hedge funds, real estate and private equity and also other specialist equity products.
