European financial house Société Générale Corporate & Investment Banking has appointed Grégoire Déchy as head of hedge fund relations for Asia Pacific. In his new role, Déchy will be responsible for developing new and existing hedge fund relationships in the region. This newly created position reflects the growing importance of hedge funds as a strategic business for Société Générale, the firm said in a statement.
Déchy previously worked at Newedge (formerly Fimat) where he helped develop the prime brokerage platform for hedge funds and commodity trading advisors in London, before being appointed head of business & product development in 2005 for Asia Pacific.
Déchy will report to global heads of hedge fund relations Paul Wiltshire, in London; and Pascal Vallot, in New York. He will also report locally to De Doan Tran, head of Société Générale Asia Pacific.
Société Générale employs 151,000 people worldwide across the firm's Retail Banking & Financial Services, Global Investment Management & Services and Corporate & Investment Banking arms. The firm has a network across 13 countries in the Asia Pacific region.
