Highland Capital to open Singapore office, hires three managing directors for US team17/07/2008. Source: AltAssets. 
 US-based alternative investment management firm Highland Capital is to open a Singapore office, to be headed by managing director Paul Adkins, who will relocate from Highland's Dallas branch.
Jack Yang, partner, Highland, said, ‘We have seen considerable interest from Asian investors in our hedge funds over the past two years, alongside our longstanding regional investor base in structured products. These investors typically have longer-term views of the markets, and are oriented to work with larger, more experienced managers like Highland. Our new Singapore office gives us a local footprint that our growing Asian investor community desires.’
Highland has also hired three managing directors. John Mackin, Christopher Harrison and Elizabeth Goldstein will all be based in the firm’s New York office.
Mackin most recently served as director of investor relations at Pardus Capital Management.
Prior to joining Highland, Harrison was president of the financial and strategic consulting firm, Maidstone Capital, which he established in 2006.
Goldstein joins Highland after nine years working as senior managing director in the leveraged finance group at Bear Stearns.
Highland Capital Management currently manages approximately $38bn in assets. The firm specialises in senior secured loans, high yield bonds, mezzanine debt, distressed investments, structured products, European credit, real estate and equities.
